Having a new baby is so exciting, especially as you get to watch them grow. Every moment is so precious and the memories that you create together are priceless. With these krafty ideas, you can construct a beautiful series of photos to creatively capture each stage of your baby's growth for the first year. For best results, try using the same style of prop for the entire 1st year. Consistency is key.

Aside from being adorably krafty, milestone props are also great for baby shower gifts. They help to provide some fun, memorable, and beautiful bonding moments with your baby. I just loved getting my little man ready for his monthly photoshoots and then seeing what kinds of moments we were able to capture with him and his props. Every now and then, I’d even look back just to compare the photos and admire how much he’s grown. But to really capture the moment, milestone videos are also a great option.

In this post, I’ll be sharing with you 5 krafty prop ideas that I would recommend using to add a creative touch to your baby's milestone photos. The examples in this blog will allow you to see the fun varieties that each prop has to offer.

1. Baby Milestone Cards

Milestone cards are one of the most classic ways to track and creatively capture baby's 1st year of life. This tracking method is fairly inexpensive to buy, especially with digital pay & print options, and they're also simple to create on your own. So even on a budget, you can take a part of this tracking style. I really enjoy cards that have a nice level of simplicity that are also aesthetically pleasing. Whether it's the style of the design, the materials used, the shape, and/or the way that you setup the scene for baby's milestone photos. This classic idea can still be manipulated to create a creative series of milestone memories.

2. Milestone Blankets

Milestone blankets are cozy, cute, and a creative way to capture baby's growth. Not to be confused with a sleeping blanket, this pretty thing only comes out for photo time, to ensure durability and cleanliness for baby's monthly photoshoot. These blankets are best displayed with a matching round border to highlight each of the months. With this larger canvas, you can also incorporate baby's name, birth date, a sweet message, and more. Just be sure to leave a nice amount of empty space for baby to grow and still be centered nicely. I also enjoy the fact that these blankets can be created in a way that will allow them to be passed down for generations. How adorable would that be to see generations of babies of the same family growing on the same blanket?

3. Milestone Blocks

Typically made of wood, but can also be made with folded cardstock, milestone blocks can be customized to include baby's name while also tracking their growth in weeks, months, and even years, with such simplicity! It's actually pretty neat how such a small, simple creation can be used so beautifully to capture your baby's growth over a long period of time! Now as baby get's older, it may be hard for them to resist picking up the blocks, so be prepared to maybe set up the blocks away from baby as they crawl/walk towards them.

4. Milestone Onesies

With milestone onesies, you're able to stylishly simplify your monthly milestone photoshoots by eliminating the factor of having to find a different outfit for each month. Just your baby and their onesie is all you'll need to begin your photoshoot. Don't forget to pair it up with a nice background. Again, with each prop, consistency is key for the best results, so it baby has no pants, then keep no pants for each month. If baby is on a specific rug or blanket, then try to keep them there for each photoshoot. That way, the end result will be even more aesthetically pleasing.

5. Floral Setup

I've just recently caught wind of this trendy and creative way of tracking baby's growth. You can choose to purchase a pre-made set of floral numbers, or create your own. For creating your own, simply gather your flowers and store them in a bin. When the time comes, you would just pull out your bin and rearrange the flowers to create whatever number is needed number is needed. I think that is is another beautiful idea that is still very simple in its essence, but can be manipulated in a variety of ways to create a beautiful and esthetically pleasing series of photos to track baby's growth.
